SeaCart 30

All Pete’s projects are based on a foundation of Innovation, Technology, Challenge and Adventure. To this end he sought out a special boat for his entry in the 2006 Round Britain and Ireland Race and will be using it again in the 2007 Rolex Fastnet Race.

Pete wanted to get straight on the water without the normal drawn out process of designing and building. It would take something pretty special to get back on the water – enter the Seacart 30, Cornwall Playing for Success.

She is an exquisite design built to the highest standard using an autoclave. Constructed entirely from carbon fibre, she is 30ft long and boasts a 50ft mast, but weighs in at just 950kg. This lightweight construction and racing pedigree will make her exciting to sail, necessitating total commitment from the crew who have to sleep on the windward outrigger.

What looked like a certain victory in the 2006 Round Britain and Ireland race was only scuppered when the team had to return to port to make repairs to the boat, missing a weather window. But they still believe she will prove to be a real 'giant killer'.
